KUALA LUMPUR–Malaysia’s consumer-price growth eased in September, mainly due to lower food prices.

Food and non-alcoholic beverages which has a 29.5% weighting on the index, rose 3.9% on year, easing after a 4.1% gain in August.

Core inflation, which strips out volatile prices of fresh food as well as prices of government-administered goods, rose 2.5% on year in September.

On an on-month basis, consumer prices in September increased 0.1%, compared with August’s 0.2% increase.
